Privileged? Citizenship?
1960's- A time a lot of people may have remembered. From the Civil war on equality to the assassinations on JFK and MLK. But another thing people may remember is all of the different changes going on and how devastating it was.
And while it wasnt as bad as the Great depression or WWII, it still hurt people here and there. MLK was known for fighting for the rights for African Americans. His speeches were incredible and have been known for the fact that they spoke what people were feeling.
But over 50 years later, we are still having issues in general, and not just with African Americans.
Privilege- A term that many people take for granite. Back then White men were to opposition of everything. They were the "rulers" of that common era in the world. But as the years go forward we still see some of them act that same way.
They act like they deserve more then anyone else. And not all white men and women are like this, i would know since I am a white woman. But not the point.
For a class project, we had to watch a video from Buzzfeed that had a ton of people of different ethnicity and backgrounds, different skins and religions.
They were asked questions that would relate to all of them in general. Like if you feel safe in todays world step over a line. An they would have many lines and they wanted you to be truthful. At the end, some people stood in the middle, some in the front and some in the back.
I remember a woman saying that she was so far back because she didnt feel safe. She was A black woman who was a lesbian. Nowadays you would need to be scared. With all the shootings and the deaths and police brutalities anything is possible.
Maybe you should try this. Check it out and see if you and your friends are the same or see if you get as much privledges then others.
#BlacklivesMatter. A group that shows that what others are doing is not right and how they are treated isnt right at all either.
Throughout the years, African Americans have been thrown in the mud. Im sorry to say it, but its true. From when they were thrown into slavery, to when they were just measly servants, to the Civil war. Then leading into the 1900's. When Black lives were just getting out of a time period where they were supposed to be free.
But how free?
They were still looked at like they were nothing. Treated like they were nothing. Barely got any rights. Hense when MLK came in. Although he was killed at an early age, he is still seen as an amazing man today and his words speak just as greatly as they did back then.
But doesnt mean they will do much. Black Lives Matter has grown widely over the years. They are seen as an incredible organization that says that what is going on isn't right at all.
Citizenship- Something that people feel is a big issue in the world. They think of all the bad things and they think that these people dont deserve a new life.
The reason for people coming over here. I always think what had happened.
When the country first started, people would come over and while it would take a little bit of time, they would be able to live here legally within the same day.
However, next thing you know I guess so many people wanted to live here we had to make restrictions to live here.
And nowadays people try to use their citizenship as an escape goat. Like If you get arrested for something and the one accusing you isnt "legal", you try to say that you believe them more so then an actual citizen.
Its dumb. These people came here to start a new life and help families and maybe even start families. But after years of it, we decided to restrict these things. I mean I understand for security reasons and with all of the threats in the world. But It still shouldn't take years for some people to legally live here. and If their child is born here and they have to be transported, what kind of justice is that?
Its nothing.
These issues are stuff that we need to bring the world together again. These things would make us better and show that we really do care about people. Within and outside of our borders.
Just takes a couple steps.
